Joanna Lumley to receive Lifetime Achievement Award as nominees announced for 57th Rose d'Or Awards

Entertainment programmes from 13 different countries have been nominated to win a coveted Rose d’Or award at the 57th annual ceremony in Berlin on Thursday 13 September, organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).

The list of 39 nominees in 10 categories from Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the United States, represents the best in international television and online entertainment.

Nearly 500 programmes from around 300 broadcasters and production companies were submitted for this year’s Rose d’Or Awards.

Programme makers are competing to take home a coveted Rose d’Or Award in the following categories - Reality & Factual Entertainment, Arts, Game Shows, Entertainment, Comedy, Drama, Sitcom, Limited Series & TV Movie, Children & Youth and Augmented Reality & Virtual Reality. The full list of nominees is below.

Lifetime Achievement

This year's Lifetime Achievement Rose d'Or will be given to British actress and broadcaster Joanna Lumley, known globally for her role as Patsy in BBC sitcom "Absolutely Fabulous", for which she won two BAFTA TV Awards.

Lumley's 50 year career has also seen her star in "The New Avengers", "Sapphire and Steel" and James Bond film "On Her Majesty's Secret Service". Most recently she has fronted numerous travel documentaries for ITV, played Leonardo DiCaprio's aunt in "The Wolf of Wall Street" and brought her iconic "Absolutely Fabulous" role to the big screen.

"I am so thrilled and honoured to receive the Rose d'Or in September", said Joanna.

"I can't tell you what it means to me. It's an absolute thrill, something I would never have dreamed of."

“We're delighted to welcome Joanna to Berlin and celebrate her incredible career," said EBU Head of Television and Rose d’Or organizer Jeroen Depraetere.

"We're also pleased to see the number of entries for this year's Rose d'Or was even higher than last year which shows the power of these awards, in their 57th year, to engage the global entertainment community.” he added. "The EBU is proud that once again the Rose d’Or Awards can provide a place where the world's entertainment makers can come together and celebrate their best work.”

Those nominated in each category are invited to attend the Rose d'Or Market Forum – an afternoon of discussions and screenings; giving them a chance to network with programme makers from around the world.

The Rose d'Or Entertainer of The Year award will also be given out in Berlin to recognise one person's achievements in the past 12 months.
